About

Hi, my name is Tiffany! I'm a Vancouver-based software developer who's really into unique designs, CSS, animations, user experience, and writing clean code.

I grew up in Hong Kong, studied arts & humanities in England, and worked only in executive and creative writing roles before becoming a software developer. Surprise!

My first website, however, was built when I was 11 years old and it was all about my favourite cartoon character. As stated in law, kids have to sleep before midnight (joking!), but I didn't. I always crawled back up to learn web development and graphic design from others in various online forums. I still recall building in Macromedia Dreamweaver, figuring out how to code fancy stuff like "marquee" text animation effects, and even learned some Japanese to host my websites for free on "Yahoo! GeoCities Japan"... So, I continued my passion in web technologies throughout my teenage years, and even picked BSc Computer Science as a few of my top choices...

But life has led me to discover another side of me. I went to England to study Philosophy, where I was trained to solve problems logically and systematically and to see things from new perspectives. In England I also found my love for Aesthetics (Philosophy of Art), design, writing, poetry, and photography .

Many web technologies have advanced in such a short time and it makes me so excited about coming back. I moved to Vancouver in Sep 2019, took the Technical Web Designer course at BCIT, and learned like a newborn baby. What can I say? I made the best decision for myself and I'm loving what I do now! My favourite design tool is Adobe XD and I love all front-end web technologies especially CSS and React. My short term goal is to be proficient in JavaScript, React, and Java for coding generative arts in Processing.

Although I'm not currently looking for full-time opportunities, my inbox is always open. Whether for a potential project or just to say hi, I'll try my best to answer your email!
